Who's Feeding Your Spirit? Choosing Relationships That Build Your God-Given Purpose
"Not everyone who has access to your life has permission to shape your future. If a voice repeatedly pulls you away from God's purpose, it's time to stop giving it authority." ~Katrice Cornett
The Curse Stops Here – Breaking Free from Limiting Relationships

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself why you continue to hold on to relationships that continually pull you backward?
Why do we gravitate toward people who criticize instead of encourage?
Why do we stay connected to those who seem comfortable watching us settle rather than succeed?
Why do we continue seeking approval from people who don't even understand the calling God has placed on our lives?
These are difficult questions.
If I'm honest, I don't have all the answers.
But I have come to one conclusion:
I no longer want to live beneath the purpose God created me to fulfill.
There was a time when I allowed the voices around me to become louder than the voice of God within me.
Some of those voices weren't intentionally cruel.
Some were simply comfortable.
Comfortable with average.
Comfortable with "good enough."
Comfortable with dreams that never required faith.
And if I wasn't careful, I found myself becoming comfortable too.

The Most Dangerous Voice Isn't Always the Loudest
Sometimes the greatest enemy of your purpose isn't criticism.
It's complacency.
It's that quiet voice that whispers:
"You're doing fine."
"Don't take the risk."
"Don't rock the boat."
"Just stay where you are."
Or worse...
"No one wants to hear what you have to say."
"You're just another version of someone who's already successful."
"There's nothing unique about you."
Those thoughts don't come from God.
The enemy rarely begins by telling us to quit.
He simply convinces us to settle.
And settling slowly steals the future God intended us to walk into.
You Were Never Created to Be Someone Else
One of the greatest traps in today's culture is comparison.
We compare our ministries.
Our businesses.
Our gifts.
Our appearance.
Our influence.
Our followers.
Our success.
Before long, we're trying to become someone God never asked us to be.
But here's what the Holy Spirit has continually reminded me:
God didn't create a copy. He created an original.
He didn't accidentally give you your voice.
He intentionally entrusted you with an assignment that no one else can fulfill exactly the way you can.
When I finally embraced that truth, something shifted inside of me.
I stopped chasing validation.
I started pursuing obedience.
There Is Greater Still Ahead
Jesus made an incredible promise to every believer.
"Anyone who believes in Me will do the same works I have done—and even greater works..."
(John 14:12-13)
For years, I read that Scripture but secretly wondered if it really applied to me.
Could God actually use someone like me?
Could He use my voice?
My testimony?
My music?
My story?
The answer was never based on my ability.
It has always been based on His promise.
God doesn't call the qualified.
He qualifies those He calls.
I have decided I will no longer allow fear, comparison, or insecurity to determine how much of God's purpose I experience.
No more excuses.
No more shrinking.
No more apologizing for the gifts God entrusted to me.
Because...
The Curse Stops Here.
Today I choose to reject every lie that has tried to redefine who I am.
I reject the need for people's approval.
I reject comparison.
I reject complacency.
I reject every voice that tells me I have nothing valuable to offer.
Instead...
I choose God's truth.
I choose purpose.
I choose obedience.
I choose faith.
I choose to become everything God created me to be.
Because my life was never meant to simply exist.
It was created to impact the Kingdom of God.
And so was yours.
Reflection Questions
Are there relationships in your life that consistently pull you away from God's purpose?
Have you confused comfort with obedience?
Whose opinion have you allowed to become louder than God's promises?
What dream have you delayed because you were waiting for someone else's approval?

Prayer
Father God,
Thank You for creating me in Your image and calling me according to Your purpose.
Forgive me for the times I looked to people to tell me who I am instead of looking to You. Remove every voice that competes with Your truth in my heart. Where comparison has taken root, replace it with confidence. Where fear has settled in, replace it with faith. Where complacency has kept me comfortable, awaken me to pursue the calling You have placed on my life.
Teach me to recognize relationships that strengthen my faith and give me wisdom to establish healthy boundaries with those that continually pull me away from Your purpose.
Help me to hear Your voice above every other voice.
May my life reflect Your character, Your love, and Your glory.
I surrender my plans, my dreams, my gifts, and my future completely to You.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
